Welcome to The Ashley Banks Blog. My name is Ashley Banks. Today is the day I take control of my life.
I’m choosing me—unapologetically, unfiltered, and free.
After years of censoring my voice to fit inside Department of the Army regulations, HR policies, “acceptable” workplace conduct, and my own anxiety and fear of failure, I’ve had enough.
This blog is my personal revolution.
I created The Ashley Banks Blog to finally say what I want, how I want—without tiptoeing or sugarcoating. Here, I write about real life: career, dating, parenting, politics, military transition, mental health, and whatever else needs to be said.
Since transitioning out of the military, I’ve often felt unseen and unfulfilled—and I lost my voice in the process.
But now, I’m taking it back.
This blog isn’t just therapy for me—it’s truth-telling for anyone who’s ever been silenced, ghosted, overlooked, or boxed in.
And honestly… I should’ve known this was my calling all along.
Just yesterday, a stranger asked me if I was a realtor. I said no.
Then he asked, “Are you a writer?”
The answer is Yes, I am.
I’ve already published two children’s books, available online at Barnes & Noble:
➡️ A Young Black King Can Be Anything by Ashley Banks, Hardcover | Barnes & Noble®
➡️A Young Black King Can Be Anything Coloring Book by Ashley Banks, Paperback | Barnes & Noble®
Looking back today, I know that moment was a sign.
And this blog is the result.
